Frequently asked

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible for the Tinubu Light Initiative?

Micro and small businesses operating in any of Nigeria’s 36 states or the Federal Capital Territory may apply, subject to programme verification and the applicable eligibility requirements.

Do I need a CAC registration to apply?

No. CAC registration and a Tax Identification Number are requested where available, but they are not mandatory for a first application. They may be requested later during business or financing verification.

Do I need CAC registration to submit a first application?

No. You may begin an application whether or not your business is already registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission. CAC and Tax Identification Number details should be provided where available and may be requested later during verification or financing review.

Why are NIN and identity documents requested?

NIN and accepted identity documents may be requested through the secure business dashboard to confirm the applicant’s identity, reduce fraud and support programme or financing verification. These details are not shown in public tracking.

How is my energy package decided?

Your recommended tier is calculated from your actual appliance load and usage pattern, not your business category alone. The assessment applies the approved energy formula before recommending Tier A, B or C.

Is my National Identification Number visible to programme staff?

Your NIN is protected, masked in ordinary views and kept out of public tracking. Only specifically authorised personnel with a legitimate verification need may access the protected record.
