Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers about eligibility, energy assessment, applications, verification, financing, tracking, documents and support. For a question about a specific record, use the official support channel and include the relevant reference.

Who is eligible for the Tinubu Light Initiative?

Micro and small businesses operating in any of Nigeria’s 36 states or the Federal Capital Territory may apply, subject to programme verification and the applicable eligibility requirements.

Do I need a CAC registration to apply?

No. CAC registration and a Tax Identification Number are requested where available, but they are not mandatory for a first application. They may be requested later during business or financing verification.

Do I need CAC registration to submit a first application?

No. You may begin an application whether or not your business is already registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission. CAC and Tax Identification Number details should be provided where available and may be requested later during verification or financing review.

Why are NIN and identity documents requested?

NIN and accepted identity documents may be requested through the secure business dashboard to confirm the applicant’s identity, reduce fraud and support programme or financing verification. These details are not shown in public tracking.

How is my energy package decided?

Your recommended tier is calculated from your actual appliance load and usage pattern, not your business category alone. The assessment applies the approved energy formula before recommending Tier A, B or C.

Is my National Identification Number visible to programme staff?

Your NIN is protected, masked in ordinary views and kept out of public tracking. Only specifically authorised personnel with a legitimate verification need may access the protected record.

What happens if my requirement exceeds Tier C?

Your application is referred for a customised technical assessment rather than a standard package.

Can I repay daily instead of monthly?

Daily, weekly or monthly repayment equivalents may be available after approval, subject to the final terms of the participating financing institution.

Can I use the calculator without creating an account?

Yes. You may complete an energy assessment without an account. Saving an assessment or continuing an application may require your email address and the applicable security checks.

Do I need a business account to submit an application?

No. A guest application can be submitted. A verified business account provides a secure place to view applications, assessments, requested documents, notifications and support cases.

How do I track my application?

Use the application reference and the exact email address submitted with the application. Tinubulight sends a short-lived verification code or secure link before any applicant-facing status information is displayed.

What documents may be requested after I apply?

Depending on the stage and purpose of review, Tinubulight may request CAC or TIN records, a NIN slip, an accepted identity document, passport photograph, proof of address, bank information, bank statements or other supporting records.

How are my documents and sensitive details protected?

Protected files are kept outside ordinary public Media Library access where the hosting environment permits. Critical values are encrypted where supported, masked in normal views, restricted by staff role and excluded from ordinary CSV exports and public tracking.

Does a calculator result or eligible status guarantee financing?

No. Calculator results and initial eligibility checks are indicative. Final technical approval, financing, equipment allocation, deposit requirements and repayment terms depend on verification and the participating financing institution’s decision.

Can repayment be shown daily or weekly?

The calculator may display daily, weekly and monthly equivalents for convenience. The binding repayment schedule will be the one stated in the final approved financing agreement.

How will I know when more information is required?

Applicant-facing updates may be sent by email and shown in the secure dashboard or verified application tracker. Private staff notes are not visible to applicants.

How do I report an installation or equipment fault?

Use the Report a Fault page or the Support Centre in your business dashboard. Include the application or installation reference and a clear description of the issue. For an immediate electrical or fire hazard, switch off equipment where safe and contact the appropriate emergency service.

How do I report a fake Tinubulight representative?

Use the Report Fraud or Impersonation page. Do not send money, passwords or full bank credentials to an unverified person. Preserve messages, phone numbers, payment instructions and links that may help the review.

Who can I contact for help?

General enquiries may be sent to info@tinubulight.ng, application enquiries to applications@tinubulight.ng, and account, technical or service support to support@tinubulight.ng.
