This Privacy Policy explains how Tinubulight collects, uses, stores, shares and protects personal data when you use the website, calculator, forms, business account, application tracker and support services.
Last updated: 6 August 2026
1. Who is responsible for your information
Tinubulight manages the personal data processed through this website for programme administration. Privacy questions and data-rights requests may be sent to info@tinubulight.ng. Application matters may be sent to applications@tinubulight.ng.
2. Information we collect
- Contact information: name, email address, phone number and preferred contact method.
- Business information: business name, category, description, address, state, LGA, staff size, years in operation, CAC and TIN details where available.
- Energy-assessment information: appliances, quantities, wattages, operating hours, energy costs and calculator results.
- Application and account information: application references, status history, account credentials, email-verification records, notifications and support communications.
- Verification information: NIN, identity-document details, photographs, proof of address, CAC or TIN documents and other records requested for verification.
- Financing and service information: bank details, bank statements, BVN where formally required, deposit or repayment information, installation records and fault reports.
- Technical and security information: device and browser information, timestamps, security events, privacy-reduced network identifiers, cookies and local-storage records needed to protect and operate the service.
3. How we collect information
Information is collected when you use the calculator, complete a form, create or use a business account, upload a requested document, track an application, contact support or communicate with Tinubulight. We may also receive information from an authorised representative, verification provider, financing institution, installer or public authority where the disclosure is lawful and relevant to the programme.
4. Why we use personal data
- To calculate indicative energy requirements and package recommendations
- To receive, verify, assess and administer applications
- To create and protect business accounts
- To request, review and secure supporting documents
- To communicate application, financing, installation and support updates
- To prevent fraud, abuse, impersonation and unauthorised access
- To meet legal, regulatory, audit, dispute-resolution and record-keeping obligations
- To improve accessibility, reliability and performance using necessary operational information
5. Lawful grounds
Depending on the activity, Tinubulight may process personal data because it is necessary to take steps at your request, provide programme services, comply with a legal obligation, protect legitimate programme and security interests, establish or defend legal claims, protect vital interests, or because you have given consent where consent is required. You may withdraw consent for consent-based processing, but this does not affect processing already carried out lawfully.
6. Sensitive and protected information
NIN, identity details, BVN, bank information and protected documents receive additional controls. Critical values are encrypted where the server supports the approved encryption method, masked in ordinary views, restricted by staff role and excluded from public tracking and ordinary CSV exports. Protected files are served through permission-checked download controls rather than ordinary public attachment pages.
7. Automated calculations and human review
The Smart Energy Calculator produces indicative results from the information supplied and the approved configuration. A calculator result does not make a final financing, equipment-allocation or installation decision. Applications and supporting records may be reviewed by authorised personnel, and an applicant may request clarification or human review of an applicant-facing decision.
8. Who may receive information
Information may be shared, only as relevant, with NBTI, UKALD, authorised Tinubulight personnel, participating financing institutions, approved installers or technical providers, hosting and email providers, security and verification service providers, professional advisers, regulators, law-enforcement bodies or courts. Each recipient should receive only the information needed for its role or as required by law.
9. International processing
Some technology or service providers may process information outside Nigeria. Where this occurs, Tinubulight will require an appropriate legal basis and safeguards consistent with applicable Nigerian data-protection law.
10. Retention
Records are retained for as long as needed to administer the application or account, deliver support, complete financing or installation obligations, prevent fraud, resolve disputes and meet legal or regulatory requirements. Retention is reviewed using the nature of the record, the stage of the relationship, security needs and any mandatory retention period. Information that is no longer required will be securely deleted, anonymised or isolated from routine use, subject to lawful backup cycles.
11. Your rights
Subject to applicable law and any valid exception, you may request access to your personal data, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, restriction, objection, withdrawal of consent, a portable electronic copy where applicable, and human review of a significant solely automated decision. You may also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
12. Security and your responsibilities
Tinubulight uses access controls, encryption for critical values where available, masked displays, rate limits, verification links, protected storage and security logging. No system is completely risk-free. Keep your password, email account, verification codes and application references secure, and report suspected misuse promptly.
13. Children
The application service is intended for persons who are legally able to provide the information or who are acting with appropriate authority for a business. Do not submit another person’s identity information without lawful authority.
14. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the programme, law or service providers change. The current version and update date will be published on this page.
15. Contact and complaints
Send privacy requests to info@tinubulight.ng. Include enough information to identify the relevant account or application, but do not email passwords, full BVN, full bank credentials or unrequested identity documents. You may also lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission at ndpc.gov.ng.
